Overview

BT Vision (now BT TV) is the IPTV service from BT and is one of the leading providers of on-demand content around the UK. With the media landscape constantly changing with more agile competitors in the marketplace and consumer expectation becoming more demanding, BT were looking at how they can provide a better service to their customers and make their content more accessible.

At LBi we created a concept for a mobile app that provided BT Vision customers with access to BT Vision content through their smartphones and provide a platform to personalise their tv viewing across devices.

We designed the app to showcase BT’s latest movie releases, information about upcoming sporting events, latest news stories and TV schedules. As well as providing the options to download content to watch through the media player, and record programmes via their home BT Vision box.

Through a discovery phase and consumer research, we recognised the experience needed to serve varying levels of user age groups and abilities, with this our focus turned to simplifying the architecture allowing content to be easily accessible and encourage discovery.

The interface was designed to deliver a rich viewing experience whilst pushing the existing BT Vision brand into a new direction. The concept was received well by internal stakeholders and provided key insights for the rebrand to what is now BT TV.
